NOLA-PS “Celebrate Safely!” Mardi Gras Float and Mask Decorating Contest Winners Announced!

(New Orleans – February 25, 2022) —As we celebrate the carnival season, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) is proud to announce the five winners of its social media "Celebrate Safely!" Mardi Gras Float and Mask Decorating Contest.

More than 200 students across 10 schools participated in the event and displayed their creativity across our social media channels. Bethune Elementary was the clear winner in nearly every category!

The winners in the following grade divisions are as follows. Click the names below to see their pictures.

NOLA-PS would like to thank all the students, teachers, and staff who helped make this a wonderful, creative event!

The contest was a way for students to celebrate safely and bring attention to unique reminders to mask-up during carnival season. Last year, we used this contest as a safe way to help students celebrate the season and encourage them to continue to be diligent about wearing face masks. Due to the great response in 2021, we were eager to see what students would produce this year, and their awesome designs speak for themselves.

Winners will receive a special NOLA-PS item and have their entries showcased on a "parade route of New Orleans leaders". Winning entries, as well as other entries, will also be showcased during the peak of parade season until Ash Wednesday.
