NOLA-PS Issues Weather Advisory for April 10th: Potential Severe Storms and Heavy Rainfall Expected

(New Orleans – April 9, 2024) — NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) is closely monitoring weather conditions for Wednesday, April 10th, as numerous severe storms and heavy rainfall are anticipated. As of now, there is no significant threat to the morning school arrival process.

However, concerns heighten for the afternoon to early evening hours, where damaging straight-line winds and the potential for tornadoes pose the greatest severe weather threats.

These conditions may affect after-school pickups and evening commutes. In light of this, NOLA-PS has recommended canceling after-school activities for tomorrow. We encourage families to check with their respective schools for their latest weather-related plans.

At present, the district has not mandated an early dismissal. The district is diligently monitoring all closure and early dismissal notifications.

In preparation for potentially severe weather, NOLA-PS will maintain close surveillance of the situation. Additionally, the district will stay informed of any public service closures.

Updates on significant system closures will be promptly communicated to schools and families. Please stay tuned to your local news outlets for the latest information.
