NOLA Public Schools Celebrates Black History Month & Encourages Scholars to Apply for Superintendent’s Equity in Action Scholarship


(New Orleans – February 6, 2024) — NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) invites its scholars to celebrate Black History Month by applying for the Dr. Avis Williams' Equity in Action Scholarship. This $1000 award aims to recognize and support a deserving scholar in pursuit of their college and/or career plans upon graduating from a NOLA-PS high school.


Sponsored by the district's superintendent, this scholarship reflects the commitment to promoting equity in education and empowering students to achieve their dreams.


To be considered for this scholarship, interested high school seniors must submit their applications by the submission deadline on Friday, February 9, 2024. The application form can be accessed online here.


NOLA-PS believes in fostering opportunities that empower our scholars to reach their full potential. The Dr. Avis Williams' Equity in Action Scholarship is a testament to the superintendent's commitment to supporting the educational and career aspirations of our students.
