NOLA-PS’ LEAP SCORES GREW BY 3 PERCENTAGE POINTS FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

(New Orleans – August 2, 2023) — NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) is thrilled to announce a significant achievement in our school system. We are delighted to share that we have tied for 6th place for Year over Year Percent of Mastery and Above change, showcasing an impressive +3% growth. This remarkable improvement reflects the outstanding progress made by our dedicated scholars' scores on the 2022-2023 LEAP test.

In collaboration with charter management organizations and school leaders, the district has been intentional in providing academic and social/emotional support as our community recovered from the pandemic and Hurricane Ida. These LEAP test results are confirmation that these efforts worked.

"Congratulations to our amazing scholars, educators, staff, and school leaders on your remarkable achievements. We take immense pride in the hard work and success you've attained. I am elated to learn about NOLA-PS' placement and the impressive +3% growth in mastery rate compared to the 2021-2022 school year," expressed NOLA-PS Superintendent, Dr. Avis Williams. "As we delve into the data to evaluate the performance of all our schools, we expect to see improvements. Yet, we recognize there is still much to be done to ensure our scholars reach their full potential and receive a high-quality education grounded in equity, excellence, and joy."

To gain deeper insights into our scholars' performance, NOLA-PS' data team will thoroughly examine the LEAP data and create a comprehensive summary. This will offer a clearer understanding of areas where our scholars excelled and where improvements can be made. Ultimately, this valuable data will inform the District's approach in providing schools with effective tools and supports to bolster academic success.

With deep gratitude, NOLA-PS extends its thanks to school leaders, teachers, and staff for their unwavering commitment to our scholars and for the dedication they continue to demonstrate in shaping bright futures for our incredible students. Their collective efforts have set our District on a path of continuous growth and success.
