NOLA Public Schools Kicked Off Stronger Together Training Collaborative & Attendance Works Professional Development Scholarships

(New Orleans – September 21, 2021) In collaboration with Baptist Community Ministries (BCM), NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) kicked off its annual training collaborative. This year's theme, "Stronger Together", is in line with the District's safe return to in-person instruction.

The 2021 Stronger Together Training Collaborative features a series of webinars from the following local and national presenters:

  • Attendance Works
  • Everyday Labs
  • Safe and Civil Schools
  • Special Education Leader Fellowship (SELF)
  • Hammonds, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah & Perkins, L.L.P.
  • Young Cypress Psychology
  • Educational Diagnostic Services & Consulting of Louisiana, LLC (EDSCLA)
  • Dr. Anna Long
  • Louisiana Center for Children's Rights (LCCR), and
  • NOLA-PS Office of Student Support and Attendance

All training will be focused on getting teachers, school/network leaders, and school support teams the professional development and support tools needed to help ensure educators are re-engaging and supporting all learners, amidst the recovery of Hurricane Ida and the ongoing pandemic.

In addition, NOLA Public Schools is also sponsoring 50 professional development scholarships to participate in the Attendance Works Fall 2021 E-Learning Series, which is typically $300 per attendee.

During this E-Learning Series, Attendance Works will help schools develop a comprehensive, data-driven approach to improve student attendance through a three-part training series for educators to learn proven, evidence-based tiered strategies to engage students and promote attendance.

"Giving our educators the tools they need to help keep our children in the classroom and engaged is vital to the development of our young people," said NOLA Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. "Students who are in school with their teachers and peers are able to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Plus, they have access to healthy meals, activities, and much needed mental health support."
