NOLA Public Schools Releases Early Childhood (Birth-4 Year) Main Round of NCAP Results for 2023-2024 School Year

(NEW ORLEANS – May 30, 2023) – Today, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) released NOLA-PS Common Application (NCAP) Early Childhood placement results for the 2023-2024 school year. Families can log-in and review those placement results by visiting:https://apply.avela.org/nolaps

The NCAP is the centralized school enrollment application process for Orleans Parish public schools. NCAP provides students and families with the opportunity to apply to schools citywide, and early childcare centers with publicly funded seats based on their child's unique needs and interests.

For the 2023-2024 school year, NOLA-PS received almost 4,000 total applications for a new early childhood placement – of those applicants, more than 2,200 completed the eligibility verification process and were eligible for at least one choice. The following match rates are for eligible applicants:

  • 99% of sibling applicants were matched to their sibling's school.
  • 54% of applicants received their top choice
  • 73% of applicants received one of their top three choices

The results continue to demonstrate our commitment to equitable access for families to theschools and childcare centers of their choice. Most students participating in the NCAP process have been placed in one of their top three school choices; in nearly every case, sibling applicants were able to be placed with a sibling. While some Head Start centers include sibling status in their priority score calculation, note that the sibling match rate does not include Head Start choices or State-funded Nonpublic Schools Early Childhood Development (NSECD) seats.

"NOLA Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring our youngest learners embark on a robust educational journey, laying a solid foundation for their future success," said NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams. "Our mission is to eliminate obstacles and empower families in offering their children an excellent education, and our enrollment team is steadfast in ensuring equitable treatment of all applicants. The NOLA-PS team remains devoted to offering diverse choices and expanding educational opportunities for all our scholars."
